St Mary's Church, Purton, is welcoming, friendly, and offers a variety of services and fellowship. We have a part-time vicar and a part-time curate.
Services include an 8.00am Book of Common Prayer service every Sunday morning, followed by a 10.30am service with Holy Communion (except for the first Sunday of the month which is a Family service without a communion). Evensong is held at 6.00pm on the first Sunday of every month. We also hold youth services and Messy Church every two months or so and a regular Pram service at the Methodist Church. The church choir sing at most services, and there is also a growing music group who play at family services and on other occasions. The church has 8 bells, and are currently looking to recruit more bellringers!
The vicar runs Christianity Explored and Confirmation courses for those who wish to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. There is a prayer group which meets fortnightly and will pray for your concerns on request. The church has close links with St Mary's Church of England primary school in the village. Volunteers from the church community run activity days during the school holidays for the benefit of the children.
We welcome people young and old for baptism. St Mary's is a beautiful historical setting for weddings.
Take a look at the church website for more information. Do come along to see us! There is tea and coffee after the 10.30am services, with the chance to have a chat. Visitors are most welcome.
